OIC Condemns Houthi Attacks on Holy Cities
The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has strongly condemned the recent attacks carried out by the Houthi militia targeting the holy cities of Mecca and Medina, as well as the provinces of Taif and Jeddah. The OIC emphasized that targeting the vicinity of the sacred sites constitutes a violation of their sanctity and a threat to civilian safety.
OIC Secretary-General Yousef bin Ahmad Al-Othaimeen stated in a press release that the ballistic missile attack on Wadi Al-Maghmas, near the sacred site of Arafat, demonstrates the perpetrators' disregard for the sanctity of holy places and the safety of civilians.
Al-Othaimeen issued a stern warning regarding the grave consequences of the continued attacks. He called upon the Islamic world to take collective action and adopt a firm, responsible stance to deter the Houthi militia and put an end to their criminal practices.
The Secretary-General reaffirmed the OIC's full solidarity with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and pledged support for all measures taken by the Kingdom to protect its security, sovereignty, territorial integrity, and the safety of its citizens and residents.
He stressed that the violation of the sanctity of Islamic holy sites is an assault on the entire Muslim Ummah, necessitating a decisive international response and urgent action to halt these attacks and hold the perpetrators accountable.
