Houthi Militia Detains Tribal Elder for Two Years, Denies Family Visits
The Iran-backed Houthi militia continues to hold Sheikh Saleh Al-Bahri in the prisons of the so-called Security and Intelligence Service in the capital, Sana'a, for two consecutive years. This detention has been characterized by arbitrary actions, with his family being denied visitation rights.
Sources close to Al-Bahri stated that the tribal leader, a prominent figure from the Atmah tribes in Dhamar, was apprehended following an unsubstantiated accusation. No official charges have been brought against him, nor have any legal justifications for his prolonged detention been provided.
The arbitrary arrest and continued imprisonment of Sheikh Al-Bahri have drawn condemnation from citizens and academics alike. These groups are demanding the immediate release of Al-Bahri, compensation for the damages he has suffered due to his unlawful detention, and an end to his plight.
Furthermore, they are calling for the guarantee of his legal and human rights. The circumstances surrounding his detention highlight ongoing concerns regarding the Houthi militia's disregard for due process and fundamental human rights.
