Houthi Militia Destroys Teacher's Home, Continues Shelling Taiz Villages

The Houthi militia has destroyed the home of a teacher's family in Taiz and continues to target residential villages across the province, exacerbating the dire humanitarian situation.

The residence of teacher Fouad Al-Tabouki was shelled and subsequently destroyed by Houthi forces. This incident occurred concurrently with ongoing shelling of civilian areas in the Al-Aqroush region of Al-Masrakh district and the Kahlan area of Saber district, which has persisted for several hours. Concerns are mounting over potential civilian casualties and further damage to homes and property.

This escalation follows a pattern of attacks on populated areas within the province. A previous human rights report documented 43 violations by the Houthi militia within a 24-hour period, resulting in the deaths of five civilians and injuries to 17 others, including women and children. Additionally, seven homes, 12 vehicles, Al-Safwa Hospital, and Al-Saeed Mosque sustained damage.

The report further detailed that these attacks involved the firing of over 180 mortar shells, artillery rounds, howitzer shells, and Katyusha rockets, in addition to the use of tanks and drones against residential neighborhoods. A five-year-old girl was killed inside her home in the Haisban area of Al-Masrakh district.

Taiz is currently experiencing severe humanitarian and living conditions due to the Houthi militia's ongoing siege of the city, which restricts civilian movement and access to essential supplies. The intensifying shelling amplifies the risks to civilian lives, particularly for women and children.
