Houthi Snipers Kill 5 Civilians, Injure 6 in Taiz Countryside

Five civilians were killed and six others injured, including children and women, on Monday, October 26, 2026, due to shelling and sniping by the Houthi militia on residential villages in the districts of Sabr Al-Mawaseer and Al-Masrakh, in the countryside of Taiz governorate in southwestern Yemen.

Local sources indicated that the young man Rabie Mohammed Ghalib, 32, was killed by a Houthi sniper's bullet in the village of Hamma, in the Aqroush district, southeast of Taiz. His brother Fahmi, 26, was injured by the same sniper. The sources added that citizen Wedad Saeed Hameed Aqlan, 44, was injured by shrapnel from a Houthi sniper's bullet that targeted citizens' homes in the village. This incident was part of a series of sniping operations that targeted citizens over two hours, amidst ongoing targeting and difficulty in evacuating the wounded.

The sources further reported that three civilians were killed: Jamal Jamil Ali Abdulraqib, 13; Mohammed Abdulwahid Abdullah Al-Aswad, 14; and Loai Hani Abdullah Al-Aswad, 17, as a result of Houthi shelling and sniping in the residential villages of Sabr Al-Mawaseer district. Three others were injured: Ali Fathi Ali Abdulraqib, 17; Abdulqawi Jamil Ali Abdulraqib, 13; and Kawthar Abdulbaqi Mohammed Saif, 26.

Additionally, the child Salah Saeed, 12, was injured by a militia sniper's bullet in the village of Al-Dhamna, in the Al-Masrakh district, southeast of Taiz, after being targeted by a sniper positioned on Mount Aden in the Aqroush area.

Sources confirmed that sniping operations are ongoing, creating an atmosphere of fear and panic among residents. Civilians face difficulties in reaching the injured due to the risk of direct targeting, as the Houthi militia continues its attacks on civilians in the residential villages of Taiz governorate.
