Taiz University Suspends Classes and Exams at Al-Turbah Branch Indefinitely

Taiz University has announced the temporary suspension of all classes and examinations across all colleges and centers of its Al-Turbah branch, located in the southern part of the governorate. The suspension, effective Friday, October 30, 2026, until further notice, follows the detention of a computer science student within the university campus.

In a decision issued by its council, the university stated that the action was taken in response to recent developments at the branch and the concerns and anxieties raised by the student's detention among students and their guardians regarding their safety. The decision also cited the potential repercussions on the examination process.

The university elaborated that student attendance in some departments had dropped to as low as 23%, necessitating measures to ensure the safety of students and university staff, and to provide a conducive and secure environment for examinations.

The resolution affirmed that the suspension of classes and exams does not extend to the official administrative work at the branch's colleges and centers, which will continue as usual.
