A man was fatally stabbed by his second wife inside their home in Al-Qurayyat, Al-Mashna District, Ibb Governorate, in a tragic incident highlighting the rise of domestic violence in the region.
Local sources reported that the victim, identified as Faisal Ahmed Abdo Abdo, was involved in a severe dispute with his second wife within their residence. The sources further indicated that during the altercation, the wife proceeded to stab him multiple times with a knife she had concealed in the bedding. One of the stab wounds directly impacted his heart, resulting in his immediate death.
This crime occurs amidst a noticeable and persistent escalation in criminal offenses and domestic violence incidents within areas controlled by the Houthi militia.
Observers and social specialists attribute the increase in domestic crimes to a combination of factors. These include economic and livelihood deterioration, worsening humanitarian conditions, and severe pressures stemming from years of war instigated by the Houthi militia. Additionally, the psychological and social impacts of the war, exacerbated family problems, loss of stability, and widening poverty and security lapses have all contributed to the rise of criminal phenomena within society and the family unit.
