Houthi Ballistic Missile Destroys 13 Homes in Taiz Village
A Houthi ballistic missile struck the village of Adud in the Sabr Al-Mawadim district of Taiz Governorate, southwestern Yemen, on Sunday, resulting in the destruction of 13 homes.
Local and human rights sources reported that the missile targeted the village, situated approximately 13 kilometers from the front lines. Despite its remote and isolated nature, the area is inaccessible by vehicles, with only rugged, narrow paths suitable for foot traffic or livestock.
This incident exemplifies the pattern of Houthi shelling targeting civilian settlements in Taiz Governorate, including remote villages far from combat zones, leading to the demolition of homes and endangering the lives and property of civilians.
The attack occurs amidst repeated assaults by Houthi militias on residential areas and villages within the governorate, utilizing artillery shells, missiles, and various weaponry. This escalation has impacted populated areas situated far from the front lines.
In recent months, scattered areas of the governorate have experienced Houthi shelling and sniper attacks that have caused civilian casualties, including women and children, and damaged homes and property. Human rights organizations continue to call for an end to the targeting of civilians and for accountability for these violations.
