Yemen Government Announces Ministerial Reshuffle, Appoints Three New Ministers

Yemen's government has undergone a significant ministerial reshuffle, with a presidential decree issued on Monday appointing three new ministers.

The decree specifically names Salem Abubakr Mohammed Thabet Al-Awlaqi as the new Minister of Information. Additionally, Judge Akram Naseeb Ahmed Al-Ameri has been appointed as the Minister of Civil Service and Insurance, and Ahmed Saleh Ahmed Al-Awlaqi will serve as the Minister of Local Administration.

This executive order amends Presidential Decree No. (3) of 2026 concerning the formation of the government and the appointment of its members. The changes are effective immediately upon their issuance and will be published in the official gazette.

The reshuffle comes amidst ongoing developments in Yemen, including reports of government forces recapturing strategic positions in Lahj Governorate and repelling Houthi attacks. Other related news includes a Houthi ballistic missile strike that reportedly destroyed 13 homes in Taiz, and the Masam Project's demining efforts, which have cleared approximately 600,000 mines, munitions, and explosive devices across Yemen.

Further presidential decrees have also been issued regarding new military appointments in the Tor Al-Baha axis. Concurrently, the European Union has reiterated that Taiz remains under Houthi siege and has called for the urgent opening of a humanitarian corridor.
