Yemeni Civilians, Mostly Children, Killed in Houthi Shelling in Taiz

Eight civilians, predominantly children, were killed and injured when a Houthi militia shell struck a residential home in the Al-Athawar village of Haifan district, Taiz Governorate, on Wednesday, November 4, 2026.

Local sources reported that the projectile hit the house of citizen Ali Abdulhaq Al-Athouri. The deceased were identified as Maryam Ali Abdulhaq, 7, Sama Ali Abdulhaq, 12, Hayyan Ali Abdulhaq, 3, and Abeer Abduldayem, 35.

According to the sources, four other individuals sustained injuries: Abdu Marwan Abdulhaq, 20, Zaid Raghadan Ali, 20, Burhan Mithaq Abdulhaq, two and a half years old, and Alia Ali Abdulhaq, 10.

This incident occurs amidst ongoing Houthi shelling of residential neighborhoods and homes in several fronts across Taiz Governorate. Such attacks exacerbate civilian suffering, leading to further casualties, particularly among women and children, and causing destruction of homes and private property, constituting a clear violation of international laws and conventions that protect civilians during armed conflicts.
